I developed the idea for Scottish Pride while traveling through Dunfermline, Scotland. Over a pint of Stella a high ranking member of the Freemason’s told me there used to be a standing stone in Crossford, believed to be the product of a witch’s curse, but was no more due to the farmer blowing it up. The story was originally published in B & W in Arcana’s Dark Horror Anthology 2.

Panel 1
It is night time. We see a close up of a man’s face. His visage is intense and alert but weary as if he has under gone a hideous trial. Long, drooping mustaches and shaggy hair beneath an open faced helm are harshly cast by the flames from an off panel bonfire.

Caption: The Year of Our Lord 1234. Crossford, Scotland.
Senior Knight: This stone shall stand for all eternity under the eyes of our Lord.

Panel 2
A senior ranking Knight Templar stands in the panel. He is wearing a tunic bearing the insignia of the Knights Templar overtop a chain mail shirt. A shield is slung on his shoulder. It is recently creased with dents from sharp claws. His hands rest on the pummel of his sword, the tip rests on the ground. Behind him stands a giant upright stone, The Finger of God. It’s glowing from the recently cast magic and particles of dust and smoke is coming off it.

Senior Knight: A sign of his Holy Might and Greatness over the powers of the witch Lilitu and Hell itself. A monument to the Craft we have accomplished this day.

Panel 3
There is a circle of men standing around a roaring bonfire, which holds in the middle a giant burning cross. The fire casts them in deep shadows. The light reflects off their chain mail shirts, helmets and shields. They are wearing the insignia of the Knights Templar on their tunics. Each has their sword up raised in salute. Leading the ceremony is the senior Knight and behind him is the large stone. Around this arrangement is a smaller circle of stones. Beyond them are the silhouettes of the surrounding woods.

The Group: Amen
