Panel 1
A river boat is traveling down the Amazon river. Thick jungle lines the shore. A pair of pink river dolphins are jumping through the water just in front of the boat. Standing at the front of the boat is Ford. He is wiping down his shotgun with a white cloth. Beside him Dr. Ryland is drawing in his journal as he watches the dolphins. Standing beside Ryland is Pablo.

Caption: then I’m coming with you.
Ford: It’s been too long since the last time.
Dr. Ryland: Marvelous creatures. Too long since what?
Ford: Hunting jaguar and black panther.
Dr. Ryland: Jesus Jon, is that all you think about? How dreadful.

Panel 2
The river boat is anchored by the river’s edge. A canoe is pulling up beside them. Inside the canoes Matis tribesmen hold paddles in their hands. Dr. Ryland is pointing down the tributary from which they came from. Ford is beside Dr. Ryland.

Dr. Ryland: They’re not keen on taking us to their village.

Panel 3
Dr. Ryland is pointing to a bundle of objects in a crate on the deck. Inside the crate is a bundle of fishing nets, metal pots and pans, knives, flint and steel

Dr. Ryland: But they will for a price.
Caption: It was a fool’s errand, that trip down the Amazon, and I the great hunter out to claim the biggest game of my life.

Panel 4
Ford and Dr. Ryland are being taken down the river in the canoes.

Ford: Well Ryland, are they leading us to the cooking pot?
Dr. Ryland: The Matis aren’t cannibals, but they may start with us once they know what you’re after.
Ford: Time enough for that I reckon when were on dry land.
