Offspring is an ode to H.P. Lovecraft, without a doubt. His stories have had a tremendous impact on how I view the horror genre and this tale has many of the classic elements found in his work. Sailors lost at sea, a mysterious island, and a nameless horror lurking below. And after confronting that horror, the protagonists life inevitably spirals into madness or death.
Or both.
I hope you enjoy this one. It’s my first attempt at putting together a full length comic, 22 pages and all. The artwork is courtesy of the brilliant, devious mind of Adam Christopher and the colours are Henry Huang’s.
Offspring is my first full length comic, ever. Being consistent was the hardest part, drawing the same people over and over again. This was a definite learning experience and I’d like to thank Phil for giving me this great opportunity.
I’m also a fan of H.P. Lovecraft, his imagination was great as it was disturbing. Drawing Offspring had almost everything I could ask for in a comic that I enjoy drawing: giant dark gods, grotesque monsters, cannibals and rocks.
