The flashback is over. We’re back in the woods. Cartier is gagging from the memory of what he did.

Cartier: my…uucck.

Panel 2
Close up of Cartier whipping the spit and bile off his mouth and beard with the back of his fur glove, coughing and trying to catch his breath. The Wendigo’s voice comes from off panel.

Cartier: coff…coff…
Wendigo: You’re growing worse.

Panel 3
Cartier is screaming out into the blizzard, struggling to regain his balance and get to his footing.

Cartier: Demon! In the name of Christ…stay away!

Panel 4
Bird’s eye view. Cartier’s head is bent down. The blowing winds are growing fiercer. He’s approaching a steep drop off but he doesn’t see it. The Wendigo can be heard from off panel.

Cartier: It’s not my fault.
Wendigo: Let go of it. It would be too much for any man.

Panel 5
Cartier takes a header over the drop off.
