Alright folks, an all new Lovecraft inspired tale with artwork courtesy of Dan Simon, artist of the super hilarious No Reason!
When I originally wrote the script the structure of it was much different, with the ending actually occurring in the beginning. I’d passed it around to some comic colleagues who all felt that it was good, but thought it was the precursor to a larger story, and wasn’t really self-contained.
When I sent it to Dan he fired back over a page and a half of notes and constructive criticism for me to mull over. So I knuckled down and reworked the script to its present form. When I sent it back to him he liked it so much he demanded that he be the one to draw it. And, really, who am I to say no!

In other news I’ll be at Fan Expo August 27-29 in artist alley, table A136. I’ll post up the floor plan with my location in a couple of days, along with what I hope to accomplish at the con. Until then.

Panel 1
A young girl is hesitantly walking through a dimly lit living room. The girl looks nervous, maybe a little frightened. There is a couch by a window with long curtains. Billy is hiding behind the couch, in the shadows.

Girl: Billy! Where are you?
Girl: Stop it right now.

Panel 2
A young boy wearing a mask of Cthulhu has jumped out from behind the couch surprising the young girl causing her to scream. The Cthulhu mask looks like an octopus head with four tentacles around the mouth area.

Boy: Rah!
Girl: Aaah!

Panel 3
Zoom out. The first two panels are coming from a T.V. On screen the young boy has pulled off the mask and the young girl is hitting him on the arm. Joey is sitting on his knees in front of the T.V. watching the commercial.

Joey: I’ve gotta have that mask.

Panel 4
Zoom out further so we see Joey in the foreground, yelling at his mom in the background, visible through a doorway into the kitchen where she is tidying up.

Joey: Mom! Can we go Halloween shopping today!?
Mom: Sure honey, we’ll go after lunch.
